We live in cars and motels and other people’s houses. We are migrant workers, so we live where the work is. Today we live at the Ho-Jo off I-4 in Tampa. There is a nice pool and a disco and waffles in the morning. There is a Chinese take out next door, and there is a Sunoco on the other side where we can buy beer and sunflower seeds. The maid leaves extra coffee packs without us even having to ask. Early in the morning we watch CNN, and at night we watch HBO. We live here for three days, then we move on. These pictures…these words…they will help me to remember all of the places we lived when we were not living anywhere.
